Robert Gene Montgomery

Robert Gene Montgomery, 42, entered the Gates of Heaven on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 4:06pm after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by those that loved him the most. He was born November 17, 1979 in Columbus, Ohio. Robert was a graduate of Grove City High School. He later attended Columbus State where he studied Business Management. In 2012 he met the love of his life, Kylie Montgomery.

He was devoted to his wife Kylie, children, and mother. His family was so important to him and he strived every day to be the best husband and father that he could be. And he was. He loved the Lord and was baptized this past Easter at The Church Next Door.

Robert was a lifelong Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye fan. For many years he made an impact as a coach for Hamilton Township and Obetz youth sports. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and was always the life of the party. He touched many lives and was adored by everyone he met. Robert excelled professionally as well. He had a very successful career at Spectrum as Senior Director where he was a visionary leader and inspirational mentor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Montgomery and his grandparents, Bobby Gene Lanning, Melba Lanning Hawkins, and Robert and Anna Montgomery.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Kylie; children, Christian, Savannah, Blake, Brock, Brielynn, and Berklie; mother, Pamela Montgomery; siblings, Tabatha (Troy) Tomlinson and children Grace (Steven), Noah and Elijah; Traci (Brian) Poppaw and her son Jude; and Clint Montgomery and his daughter Chloe; Aunt Bertie(Darrell) Perry.

Robert is also survived by his Mother-in-law Tammy(Chris) Parker and their daughter Samantha; Father-in-law Rick Howe and his mother Joyce Gillam; Alexander, Alison, Braxton and numerous other special friends and family.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2022 at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Rd., (HOOVER RD AT KINGSTON AVE), Grove City. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at New Beginnings Church, 492 Williams Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43207. Interment will follow at Obetz Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Robert would like contributions to be made to his children’s college or vocational educations, c/o Kylie Montgomery.
