She was born in Shawnee, Ohio. Her family then moved to Darlington, Pennsylvania when she was 13. After getting married she moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1948 where she made her permanent home.
Preceding her in death is her parents Hershal Coon and Anna Kopis Coon, her brothers’ George Coon Sr., Edward Coon and grandson Trevor Lee McVay.
She is survived by her daughters, Grace (Gregg) Black and Sharon (Danny) McVay, brother Emery Coon, sisters Elaine Cramer, Darlene (Tim) Weigel, Evelyn (Ronnie) Clark, grandchildren Kathy (Brian) Edwards, Steve Black, Janet (Brandon) Taylor, great grandchildren David Edwards, Anakin Taylor, Sarah Edwards and Adelaide Taylor. Also she is survived by many cousins and friends.
She worked many years at Federal Glass Company. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 7005. She was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart.
Marilyn loved her family dearly. She loved shopping for and spoiling her grandkids.
She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafting, gardening, cooking and baking. She loved shopping, especially for shoes.
Visiting hours will be Friday, October 11 from 4-8PM at Schoedinger Norris Funeral Home in Grove City, 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio.
Funeral will be held Saturday October 12 at 10:00 AM at Crossroads United Methodist Church, 1100 South Hague Ave., Columbus, Ohio where visiting can be done prior to the service from 9-10AM. Burial will follow at Obetz Cemetery, 4455 Groveport Rd, Obetz, OH 43207. There will be a luncheon after the burial at Crossroads UMC.
