Dolores “Dee” Redman, 92 of Grove City, Ohio passed away on July 4, 2023. She was born on January 26, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to Homer and Helen Palmer. In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob); her son, Steve; and her granddaughter Angela Redman.
She leaves behind her daughter, Debbie Camp (husband Fred Camp); grandchildren, Kris Camp (wife Julie Camp); Steven Redman (wife Carla Redman); Molly Camp (husband Tom Szabo); daughter-in-law (Barbara Redman); as well as great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Reagan Camp; and Andrés Redman.
Dolores met her future husband, Robert Redman (Bob), at the Harrisburg Homecoming Square Dance. She married Bob after graduating from North High School in 1949. Shortly thereafter, Dolores and Bob moved to Camp Pendleton, California where their first child, Debbie, was born. Soon they returned to Ohio, settling in Grove City, where Dolores gave birth to their son, Steve.
Dolores and Bob spent the next 40 years raising a family. After being a room mother for all of her children’s activities at school, Dolores took a job at Don’s Restaurant (behind the old Grove City High School) where she enjoyed cooking lunch for the hungry high school kids. The Hamburger Split was her favorite item to serve the kids! Soon after, she became Receptionist and Clerk of Courts for the City of Grove City. She was the smiling face that welcomed those who worked and visited the Grove City Municipal Building.
Dolores spent her free time clogging with the Grove City Senior Cloggers, with whom she performed at Disneyland; sewing clothing for her grandchildren; and quilting. During the summers, Dolores and Bob would visit many campgrounds across Ohio and the United States in their Airstream camper. They especially enjoyed taking the grandchildren camping at Myrtle Beach every summer!
Dolores and Bob spent retirement traveling the US in a recreation vehicle searching for the best retirement climate. Florida won the vote and their remaining days together were spent in Estero, Florida where they enjoyed fun in the sun. After Bob passed, Dolores continued to stay in Florida where she spent her days swimming; and nights playing Bingo and Pokeno. Dolores also enjoyed taking casino cruises, shopping trips, and attending shows at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre with her friend, Margaret.
Dolores returned to Ohio in 2019, settling in at StoryPoint where she quickly adjusted to her new surroundings and made many friends. She and her next-door neighbor, Esther Nester, always found where the fun was! Dolores enjoyed all the activities; especially arts & crafts, Left Right Center, and of course, she never missed a day of Bingo! She loved the staff at StoryPoint, and was loved by them in return. She played her last Bingo card on Friday June 30th with her dear friend Esther.
A memorial celebration for Dee will be held at StoryPoint on August 12th at 11:30am. RSVPs are appreciated and can be sent to her daughter, Debbie, at [email protected]. If you would like to send flowers to the celebration, please send them to:
