Betty Price, 93. Preceded in death by her mother, Nell; father, Frederick; step-father, William; sisters, Mary, Marilyn, and Margaret; brother, Fred. and beloved husband of 56 years, Robert “Bob”. Survived by sister, Virginia “Gin”; son Michael (Rebecca); daughter, Teresa (Bernie); special cousins, Janeann and Janice; nephews, Charlie and Doug (Tracy); and niece, Elizabeth “Lizzy”.
Betty Carolyn (Strong) Price was born on July 26, 1930 in Wilkesville, Ohio to Nell and Frederick Strong. Growing up in the depression era, Betty learned the value of family and friends at an early age due to her losing her father to a mining accident; a sister that was struck by a car; and one sister that became ill with Scarlet fever.
Raised in Wilkesville, Jackson, and Wellston with her brother, Fred “Buster”; sisters, Margaret and Virginia “Gin”, Betty was led by her Mom, a devout woman of faith. A strong bond was held with her mom and siblings throughout her life. Selfless to a fault, others interests were always at the forefront of her mind and heart. She tended, in home, to her mom for the last 6 months of her bout with cancer and to her husband, Bob for 7 years through his journey with Alzheimer's. She was a loyal and loving daughter, wife, mother, and friend. Everyone she ever met was greeted with a genuine, kind smile. Betty's sincere attitude made her job of many years at Front Street Lazarus as a sales clerk a natural fit. Customer reviews led to her receiving many “red apples” for her great customer service.
Betty “Mom” always had a hot dinner in store for her family and we were all benefactors of her pie baking skills. PS. She was pretty good with cookies, cakes, and brownies too.
Mom, Grandma, and Aunt Ginny all rank as some of the best mothers ever, but my biased opinion leads me to say, Mom you were the greatest. Mom, a saying that you and Aunt Ginny exchanged after each weekly call is appropriate here: “we love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”.
Many thanks to Always There Home Care, Mt. Carmel Hospice, and special friends Jodi and Matt McDade.
