Rose M. Berger, a resident of Roseville, MI for 37 years, died peacefully at McLaren Macomb Hospital Tuesday September 24, 2013, at the age of 96. Rose was born in Niagara Falls, NY on November 23, 1916, the daughter of Anthony and Josephine Paonessa. Upon her marriage in 1935 she joined her husband Dominic Buzzelli in Detroit where they raised their family. She entered the work force at the age of 45 and was a claims analyst for Michigan Blue Cross. Rose loved cooking, gardening, and travel. She was an active Fraser Garden Club and Roseville Senior Club member and faithfully attended St. Athanasius Church. She was interested in foreign cultures, current events and nature. She was well versed in the names of plants and flowers and was a loyal Tiger fan. Throughout her life she read widely and her extensive vocabulary served her well in her crossword puzzle hobby. In 1976 she married George Berger, retired and moved to Roseville. She was especially proud of her high achieving grandchildren and spoke of them at every opportunity. She was a good friend and neighbor and will be sorely missed. Rose is survived by her sons Donald Buzzelli and Rev. Aaron (Norman) Buzzelli O.S.B. and her daughter Bonnie(James) Scanlan, grandchildren Katelyn Rose Scanlan and James Andrew Scanlan. In addition to her husbands Dominic Buzzelli and George Berger, Rose was predeceased by her sisters Kathryn DeMartino and Dorothy Fisher. Funeral Friday 10:00am at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road at Masonic, Warren. Visitation Wednesday 2:00pm until 4:00pm and 6:00pm until 9:00pm with Rosary at 7:00pm; also Thursday 2:00pm until 4:00pm and 6:00pm until 9:00pm with a Scripture Service at 7:00pm. Additional visitation with the family Friday 9:00am until time of Service.
