Mary V. Hoff, age 92 died peacefully on August 18, 2009 at Sunrise of North Farmington Hills. She was born on February 8, 1917 in Detroit. Her family lived on Seminole in Detroit and were parishioners at St. Catherine Catholic Church. Mary eventually lived in Harper Woods for 27 years, St. Clair Shores for four years and at Sunrise in Farmington Hills for the last seven years. Mary was initially employed by the State of Michigan and later Wayne County. She retired in 1979 after 30 years from Wayne County Circuit Court where she was a clerk in the Landlord/Tenant division. Mary enjoyed traveling, playing cards and her friends. She was an independent woman who was a devout Catholic. Mary is survived by a cousin, Winifred Roberts and seven nephews and their families: Thomas, James, Daniel and Paul Kobielus and James, Kenneth and Gary Hoff. She was predeceased by her siblings Joseph Hoff and Jean Kobielus, and her parents. Mary helped raise the Kobielus boys after their father's death. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-9:00 pm Friday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. A scripture service is scheduled for 7:00 pm Friday. Mary will lie instate at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 20955 Bournemouth at Harper Avenue in Harper Woods from 9:30 am Saturday until mass at 10:00 am. Reverend William Herman will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Elliott Cemetery in Detroit.
