John Ernest Chiodo

Chiodo, John Ernest, 80, was surrounded by all his loved ones when he passed away peacefully on May 18, 2010. John "Jack" was born in 1929. He grew up in Braddock, PA and Detroit, MI. He spent the majority of his successful and joyful adult life in Grosse Pointe, MI. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army. Jack was an Engineer who helped complete the Atlas Missile Project. He also owned a highly respected metal fabricating and engineering firm in Detroit. Jack loved boating, running marathons (5 in total, including the Boston Marathon), and just having fun with his lovely wife of 54 years, Mary Jane. Jack and Mary Jane spent the winter months at their vacation home in Naples, FL. Jack is survived by his wife and three children: Dr. Ernest Chiodo, Catherine Elsey, and Jennifer Chiodo. He also leaves behind his sister Ernestine Schroeder, and is predeceased by his brother Ross Chiodo. No Poppa loved his grandkids more than Jack. They totaled six in number. They are Jack, Celeste, Jaye, Danny, Kit and Stephanie. Visitation Friday 2:00 - 9:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Instate Saturday 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church 467 Fairford Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods.
