Edward was born on August 8, 1930 in Detroit and raised in Roseville. He met the love of his life, Marieanne, when they were both 14 years old in school. They were married at age 19 on May 27, 1950. Ed served in the Army and then the Army Reserves for 3 years. He also volunteered as a police officer for the City of Harper Woods for many years.
He worked as an apprentice Tool and Die maker at various companies, and eventually became lead die maker at Hillside
Tool & Die Company, where he worked for 28 years. He later retired and bought his own Tool & Die Company, Woolauer Tool & Die Company. He also became co-owner of another company: BAE.
Edward was an avid sportsman and boating, fishing and hunting were his passions. As a hobby, Ed took great pride in carving decoys, and enjoyed drawing and painting as well. He and Marieanne loved boating and traveled the Great Lakes with their many friends. He was a former Commodore of the Grosse Pointe Woods Boat Club and a former member of the Grosse Pointe Power Squadron and Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. He and Marieanne were members of First English Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 50 years.
Ed and Marieanne lived in Grosse Pointe Woods for over 30 years and then fulfilled their lifelong dream of living in a house on Lake St. Clair.
Edward was pre-deceased by his wife, Marieanne, his parents, Edward and Helen Schwartz, and his sister, Dorothymae Jeffers. He was a loving father to daughter Denise (Scott) Homuth, loving grandfather to Jeffrey (Amy) Homuth and Bradley (Kristin) Homuth, Loving Great-grandfather to Emery, Aurelia, and Kallahan Homuth.
