Mr. Harper was born on January 28, 1947 in Mt. Tabor, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Walter Winifred and Edith Holt Harper Hutchison. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from ABF Truck Lines in 2009. He worked construction for the coal mines with J.O. Lively for 15 years before moving to Georgia in 1987. He was a faithful member of the Liberty Baptist Tabernacle in Stockbridge. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Franklin Harper.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Cox Harper of Hampton; daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Scott Conaway of Griffin and Stephanie and Darrell Akers of Hampton; granddaughters, Rachael Conaway and Hannah Akers; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Carolyn Harper; sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Jerry Burks.
Funeral services for Mr. David Lee Harper will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 11:00AM in the sanctuary of the Liberty Baptist Tabernacle. Rev. Matt Grimes and Rev. Glen Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in Camp Memorial Park in Fayetteville. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 6-8 Pm at the funeral home.
