Calvin Ronald ("Ron") Peterson of Gresham, OR passed away on March 9, 2012 after a 17 year battle with melanoma. Ron braved many treatments with good humor and gratitude, and got to see his children finish their educations, marry, and have three beloved grandchildren.
Ron was born in Britton, SD, to Calvin and Betty Peterson on July 10, 1947. Ron received his Bachelor’s degree in Business and Management from Moorhead State University in Minnesota. In 1968, he married Sandi Hulm in Bismarck, ND. He lived in North Dakota through his 20s, until he moved to Oregon to continue his career in music distribution. Together, Ron and Sandi had two children, Chad and Melissa.
Ron could fix most anything, and completed detailed wood cabinets and shelves around the home he shared with Sandi. He was committed to bettering his community, devoting many volunteer hours to the Parks and Recreation Board, Little League, and Babe Ruth baseball. In his later years, he made his lifelong dream come to life in building a navy blue 1932 Ford 3-window coupe. As a husband and father, he was always kind, even-tempered, and encouraging. He will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.
Ron is survived by his wife, Sandi Peterson of Gresham; son Dr. Chad (Kari) Peterson of Coeur d’Alene, ID; daughter Melissa (Joel) Jones of Ridgefield WA; brothers Bruce (Kim) Peterson of Minot, ND; Kurt (Marlane) Peterson of Mandan, ND; sisters Penny (Greg) Preston of NY, Sherry (Mark) Eikren of Detroit Lakes, MN. He was a beloved "Boppa" (Grandpa) to three grandchildren, Calvin and Gwen Peterson and Julia Jones. Ron will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Thursday, March 15, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Legacy Hopewell House in Ron’s name. Arrangements are under the care of Bateman Carroll Funeral Home.
