On March 22, 2024, we lost a great husband, father, brother, and friend with the passing of Lane Michael Bibb. Lane left behind a legacy of integrity, kindness, and a life rich in accomplishments and relationships.
Born on December 4, 1959, in Portland, Oregon, Lane grew up alongside his big brother, Russ with his parents Dick and Arlene Bibb. His academic career attending Scappoose Adventist Elementary, Columbia Adventist Academy where he was SA President, and on to Walla Walla University was just the beginning of a career marked by dedication and excellence.
Lane's professional journey was as vast as it was impactful. He worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 28 years. His expertise and vision led him to a role as a region manager, and eventually, back to the Seattle/Portland area where he channeled his passion and knowledge into helping young people connect to Christ at work and in his spare time. He spent his last 10 years with the Jubitz Corporation and loved his team. Even through his physical challenges in the past few years, he was faithfully at work early even through snow and ice. His mentorship to young employees showed his dedication to his profession and his generous spirit. Lane's passion for Jesus is etched into many businesses, schools and summer camps - a testament to his commitment to his family, community and the Lord.
In 1992, Lane married Maria Rieber, and together, they built a family and a home that was a haven of love, teasing and laughter. They were blessed with three children, Caleb, Joshua and Mattison. Lane's role as a family man was one he cherished above all others. He was so proud of each one of them.
Lane loved and valued people, especially his family. Sadly, Lane was predeceased by his parents. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his wife, Maria; his children, Caleb, Joshua and Mattison; his brother, Russ and his wife Sherrie; and a close-knit family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws. His absence will also be profoundly felt by a community of friends and colleagues who respected and admired him.
A memorial service where stories will be shared, and his life celebrated will be held on April 14, 2024 from 11am to 1pm at Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church, 10501 SE Market Street, Portland, Oregon 97216.
Lane's life was a beacon of how to live with purpose and love. He had a gift of bringing people together, creating a lighthearted atmosphere filled with great conversation and laughter. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be a comfort to all who knew him.
