Gresham resident Kenneth Edward Wagner passed away on August 26. He was 83. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, September 4 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 7 at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gresham. Committal service with Military Honors will follow at 2 PM at Willamette National Cemetery.
Ken was born September 17, 1926 in Garfield Township, Kansas to Edward Ferdinand and JoHanna Almina (Dicks) Wagner. The family moved to Gresham when Ken was 16 years old. He worked for the Kaiser Shipyards for two years union melting and welding. He enlisted in the Army in 1944 and was stationed in Guam. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Ken married Loudella Katzberg on June 3, 1949. Ken was a very smart, hands-on individual. He took refrigerator, television and radio repair classes and locksmith classes by mail. He and his brother owned a radio and television repair company during the mid-fifties to mid-sixties. He once built a television from a kit. Ken loved antique radios and was a member of the Antique Radio Club. He was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church since the early 1950s and even assisted with building the interior of the original church.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Loudella and brother, Elmer. He is survived by his daughters, Connie Davis of Gresham, OR; Marlene Blake of Sandy, OR; brother, Floyd Wagner of Gresham, OR; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
