Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1935-1939 and from 1942 to 1945. He served as a chief Petty Officer.
Jack married Claire Elvira Erickson on January 27, 1943 in Portland, Oregon.
Jack was an Associate Regional Director of the VA Administration in Chicago from 1946 until his retirement in 1973. Later he was a driver for Loaves and Fishes for 25 years until he was 93 years of age.
Jack enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. Jack loved music.
Survivors include his loving wife Claire, two sons, Gary Lynn and his wife Sandy McCoy, Fairview, OR., Jeffrey Lee and his wife Jeanne McCoy, who live in Tennessee, sister, Lynette Merle McCoy, of Portland, OR. 7 grandchildren, Jamie Puffpaff, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Tricia Perrine, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Bryan McCoy, of Queen Creek, AZ., Craig McCoy of Elgin, IL., Matthew McCoy, of Arcadia, CA., Bret Clawson, of Bend, OR., and Cari Walsh, of Boynton, Beach, FL. and 17 great grandchildren.
Celebration of Jack’s Life will be on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home located at 520 W. Powell Blvd. in Gresham, Oregon. Private burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Donations may be given either to Loaves and Fishes or Trinity Bible Church, 14333 NE Whitaker Way in Portland, OR 97230.
