Former Gresham resident Charles Clark Gardner, 71 of Fairview OR, passed away Friday, October 15, 2010. Chuck was born on August 18, 1939 in Billings, Montana to Charles William and Christie Fay (Clark) Gardner, joining his big sister Audry. He moved to Stevenson, Washington at one year old with his Dad’s family and then to Portland as a youth and attended Lynch Grade School and Gresham High School. In 1956 his sister Kathy joined the family. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1956 and served for four years. He married Sharon Jullian in 1960 and added to the family with daughter Wendy Lee and son Charles Glen (Butch). They later divorced. In 1995 he met the love of his life, Deejee Mitchell. After retiring they enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling in their motor home across 48 states.
Chuck is preceded in death by his father and grandchild Cody Dohn. He is survived by his mother Christie Gardner of Gresham OR; son Butch Gardner of Bend OR; daughter Wendy Lee Settle of Yacolt WA; sisters Audry Estes of Canby OR and Kathy Blanchard of Newberg OR; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his companion Deejee Mitchell of Fairview OR. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. Private interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Southwest Washington Medical Center.
