Beverly Jane Dixon, born October 16, 1939 in Torrington, Wyoming to Otis and Genevieve Havely, transitioned on December 2, 2024. She was a graduate of The University of Northern Colorado (B.A.) and Portland State University (M.S.).
She was a speech pathologist for over 35 years working for both the Veterans Hospital and Parkrose School District. After her retirement, she also continuously worked for or volunteered in schools well into her 70’s.
Bev was active in her school district as a member of the district bowling league and a leader in many schools she worked in. She was also a constant companion, statistician, and fan at numerous sporting events. Her support of her husband’s coaching, her son's playing and coaching, and her grandkids' activities were some of the most memorable and enjoyed moments in her wonderful life.
As a young woman, she was a majorette and an active member of the Job's Daughters chapter in her hometown. She was raised in the Methodist faith which she continued throughout her life.
After her marriage to Jim in 1963, she became his constant companion through their life together. She spent many hours volunteering at Parkrose United Methodist Church, where she served on the board and was an original member of the church bell choir, and helped with numerous Shrine fundraisers and events with Jim.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her son John, grandchildren Teagan and Nathaniel; sister-in-law Heidi, nephews David, Michael, niece Anja, and their families; cousins Rita, Doug, Greg, and their families.
A celebration of life will be held at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon on January 5th 2025 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to her two favorite charities: the Shrine Children's Hospital of Portland (3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97239 ) and Snow Cap (PO Box 160, Fairview, OR 97024).
