Penny Kay Brannam, 73, of Hackett, Arkansas died on Monday, February 13, 2023 in Fort Smith. Penny was born on December 14, 1949 to Glenn and Iva Brewer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family later moved to California, and lived in Fresno and Sacramento before finally settling in Arkansas. Penny earned her cosmetology license at Continental Beauty College in Fort Smith in 1968 before she met and married the love of her life in 1970. She was a beautician at Star Beauty Shop in Van Buren for several years and then enjoyed life as a homemaker after the birth of their daughter in 1977. She and Damon lived next door to her parents in Old Jenny Lind until 1995, when they moved to Hackett. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her beloved dog, Lucy.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jim Brewer and her sister, Glenna McCause. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Damon Brannam of the home; a daughter, Jaime Lee and son-in-law, Brent Lee of Charleston; two grandsons, T.J. Goswick of Centerton and Daltrey Goswick of Charleston and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, February 17 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood. Following the funeral, she will be laid to rest at Dawson Cemetery in Milltown, near her mother, sister, and grandparents. Viewing will be Thursday from 2 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be T.J. and Daltrey Goswick, Brent Lee, James Sears, Michael Self and Ryan Turner.
