Mary Catherine Armstrong, 85, was born November 6, 1932 in Greenwood, Arkansas and went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 15, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be truly missed by those she left behind. The Bible speaks of a virtuous woman from Proverbs 31, “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” This is how we will all remember Catherine.
“She watched over the affairs of her household”- while her husband AJ spent his days working, she spent her days working at the home, making sure it was well kept and their three boys Don, Glenn and John were well taken care of.
“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also”- Catherine blessed everyone she met. She was a very kind and giving woman who always put others before herself. She opened her heart and her home to her grandchildren whom she was able to care for and teach how to walk a life pleasing to the Lord. Her husband too called her blessed, but mostly called her “Cathern!!”.
“Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised”- Catherine was a thing of beauty, but her love for the Lord was radiant. Through her teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible school she was able to display her love for God and share His message with those around her. You don’t come across too many people as wonderful and caring as Catherine. She will be greatly missed. But she can now say, “I’m coming home AJ”.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arvle J. Armstrong, her parents, Wilburn Carter and Bonnie Hartsfield Carter, also by two children, Allen Jay Armstrong and Linda Kay Armstrong. She is survived by her three sons, Don Armstrong and wife, Pam, Glenn Armstrong and wife, Sheila and John Armstrong and wife, Cindy; one brother, Ray Carter and wife, Charlene; two sisters, Wanda Pfleider and Wilma Jo Cabe and husband, Cecile; grandchildren, Melody Armstrong, Rebecca Christ and husband, Luke, Austin Armstrong, Jeni Chaney and husband, Joey, Cathe DeGrand and husband, Rich, Jacob Armstrong and wife, MaryBeth, Caitlyn Asberry and husband, Andy and Carly Armstrong; great grandchildren, Riley, Chloe, Adler, Jase, Ian, Murphie and Lucas.
