Linda Gail Owens, 77, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 at her home with her loving husband and family by her side. She bravely fought cancer twice and won, the third time around she lost the battle. But, she definitely did not go easy, she fought with everything she had. The lucky people who knew our mother, knew she was one of the toughest people around but would give you anything she had if she thought you needed it.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Owens; three daughters, Joyclen Owens, Lanette Clements and husband, Ragon and Bonnie Kizzire and husband, Chad all of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Logan Clements and wife, Ashley Durrenberger, Peyton Clements and fiancé, Bailey Rodgers, Journey Clements and Trevor Kizzire and fiancé, Brooklyn Barton; one great grandchild, Everly Mae Elizabeth Rodgers; one sister, Brinda Thomas and husband, Gerald all of Greenwood. Also, a number of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends that were consider family.
She was born to the late Dutch and Hazel Martin, April 5, 1944 in Greenwood, Arkansas. Linda met and married James Owens in 1962, they had 59 crazy and wonderful years of marriage. Linda was a homemaker and mother to their three daughters; she enjoyed cooking and was very active in church.
Linda never met a stranger, their home was an open door, always ready with a cup of coffee and a smile for anyone that wanted to stop by for a visit. If she thought you needed to be fed, you were at the table and had a meal in front of you in the blink of an eye. James and Linda enjoyed long drives to find new places to have lunch and of course, finding the perfect fishing hole. The tackle box and poles were always in the truck and they would spend the day on a shady bank, even if they didn’t catch anything. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and was known by so many people in the community. She will be missed by many but is no longer in any pain and will always be a guardian angel looking out for her family.
Linda chose not to have a visitation or funeral service. Cremation will be under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood and she will be laid to rest in the family monument when the time is right.
