Joe Howard Green

Joe Howard Green, 86, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023. He was a retired brazer from Rheem, an Air Force Veteran and a member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in Abbott.

He is survived by his wife, Jane of the home; two sons, Gerald Green (Sherry) of Van Buren and Carl Green of Pocola; one daughter, Maria Johnson (Andy) of Ft. Smith; one stepson, Kelly Scarry of Ft. Smith; one stepdaughter, Rebecca Bonin (Tommy) of Greenwood; one brother, John Green of Huntington; one sister, Sue McKay (Bob) of Huntington; four grandchildren, Jeremiah Green (Apryl) of Pocola, Tasha Howard (Tyler) of Pocola, Claire and Carter Johnson of Ft. Smith; three step-grandchildren, Sarah Markwardt (David) of Coweta, Andrew Bonin of Greenwood and Kevin Scarry of Ft. Smith; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended family and church family. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Bessie Rhodes Green; his parents, Lowell and Dorothy Green; a brother, Jimmie Green; a sister, Mary Goines; a granddaughter, Kendra Richison and a grandson, Michael Horne.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 5 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Old Union Cemetery in Hackett. Viewing will be Monday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Green, Steve Woods, Chris Dunn, Bill Jones, Jason Henson and Cody McCorkle. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan McKay, Kelly Scarry and Tommy Bonin.
