Jay Gipson

Jay Gipson, 86, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 in Fort Smith. He was the owner of Jay Gipson Crane Service, 50 year member of Belle Point Masonic Lodge #30 F & AM and a 63 years member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, Mary “Janie” Gipson; two sons, James Ray Gipson and Gary Gipson; two daughters, Renee Meadows and Gaye Harrison; two brothers, Cleave Gipson and Bill Gipson; three sisters, Linda Carter, Dorotha Raye Purkey and Fannie Mae Jeremiah; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 17 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Dawson Cemetery in Milltown. Viewing will be Tuesday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kendall Hicks, Kendall Mounce, Brian Corbell, Spud Turner, Joseph Carter and James Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Blaylock, Stanley Corbell, Bill Vickery, Terry Massengale, Wayne Pearson and Ronnie Newby.

A special thank you to Shawnell Ray, Connie Horton, Ethel “PeeWee” Luper and Brian Corbell for their outstanding service to Jay.
