Earl Gene Sherrill, 84, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, formerly of Houston Texas, passed away April 4, 2025 in Fort Smith. He was born August 11, 1940 in Parks, Arkansas to Earl and Carrie Sherrill of Waldron, Arkansas, where Gene was raised and attended high school. Gene was a retired Electrical Engineer, working in the petroleum industry most of his working career.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda (McAnally) Sherrill; his son, Michael Sherrill and wife, Shirley of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two granddaughters, Melinda Sherrill and husband, Brian of Colorado Springs and Michelle Sherrill and husband, Josh of Escondido, California. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Carrie Sherrill.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 10 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Gentry Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Brian McAnally, Brian Beasley, John Parker Beasley, P.T. Plunkett, Drew Plunkett and Eddie Joe DeCroo.
