Bruce Bailey Whittaker, 84, of Dayton, Arkansas passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, November 13, 2021. Bruce was born January 9, 1937 to Tommie and Retha Whittaker. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville, where he also served as treasurer and deacon.
Bruce worked for ABF Freight for 42 years, where he served as both Director and Vice President of Customer Service. He was a member of the Air National Guard and he was a Master Mason of The Grand Lodge of Arkansas, F. & A.M. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bird hunting and raising cattle. He coached all three of his children in softball and baseball and loved watching all his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Razorbacks.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and Retha Whittaker. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Luneal of Dayton; his sons, Mike Whittaker and wife, Donna of Dayton and Randy Whittaker and wife, Kim of Alexander; his daughter, Suzanne Elmore and husband, Billy of West Memphis; seven grandchildren, James Whittaker and wife, Amber, Jeremy Whittaker and Kelsey, Randi Brooke Tanner and husband, Zeke, Rori Whittaker, Haley Carroll and husband, Tanner, Rylee Elmore and Keely Elmore; seven great grandchildren, Ambria, Ashlynn, Aiden, Hunter, Hadleigh, Layton and Eisley.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 17 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville with burial at Lovelace Cemetery in Witcherville under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Tuesday from 5 - 7 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church.
