Billy Arthur Terrell of Hackett, Arkansas died at home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Billy and his twin sister Barbara were born at home, north of Hackett to Robert and Letha (Walker) Terrell on November 3, 1937.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Letha; one brother, Bobby John and his sisters, Barbara Terrell Roberts and Margaret Terrell Fain and one nephew, Gary Fain. Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years 11 months, Cleta Mae Jameson Terrell; four children, Elaine Terrell (Foster Vertrees) of Prairie Grove, John Terrell of Fort Smith, Mary Terrell of Prairie Grove and Sarah Stover (Burt) of Pocola Oklahoma; his two grandsons, Jared Stover of Fayetteville and Jack Stover of Fort Smith; brothers, Gary and Raymond Terrell; brother-in-law, Pete Roberts as well as two nieces, five nephews and several great, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Billy was born and raised in the Hackett area and graduated from Hackett High School in 1956. He learned piano as a child and played for many as a teenager and young adult. He was a life-long member of Bonanza Church of Christ. He was also a scoutmaster and good-natured Girl Scout dad, a member of the Hackett School Board, and he shared his beautiful bass voice with the Fort Smith Riverblenders Barbershop Chorus for many years. He retired from ABF in 1999 and enjoyed 23 years of retirement, where he and Cleta traveled all over the country and enjoyed watching their grandsons grow up. Billy loved his family and was always willing to help out anybody who needed it. He leaves an incredible void for all who knew him. Our dad was a faithful blood donor until illness forced him to stop last year. We would appreciate it if people honored him by considering donating at their local blood bank.
