It is with great sadness to share that Peter Rubino passed away unexpectedly in January 2021 at the age of 33 years old. He was the eldest, beloved son of Vincent and Marie Rubino and adored brother of David and Stephen. Peter attended Eagle Hill School, graduated from Greenwich High School in 2006, and received his B.A. from Manhattanville College in 2010 with department honors in Economics. He was a lifelong resident of Riverside, a neighborhood within Greenwich, CT.
Peter had a kind-hearted, naïve spirit and a youthful view of life. With his creative, vivid imagination, he loved making others happy and he was always grateful when included as a part of a group of friends. Some remember Peter for his quirky, witty sense of humor - especially his play on words, while others recall his bright smile and deep brown eyes. Peter was thoughtful in subtle ways, like wanting to get just the right gift or sharing his food. Always with a hearty squeal of laughter, he enjoyed playing with the dog that he nicknamed Double Goose. It was his immediate and extended family of many aunts and uncles and cousins and their children that meant more than anything to Peter, especially during get-togethers for holidays, reunions and weddings where he was known to draw a crowd watching him dance.
Peter passionately enjoyed talking about two diverse topics: financial investing and skateboarding. He followed the financial markets closely and guided many friends and their parents with his in-depth explanations. Peter felt great satisfaction when his colleagues made substantial profits with his suggestions. He also liked all aspects of skateboarding and tirelessly practiced his skateboarding skills. Peter described skateboarding as something that “has brought me more in my life than I could ever imagine.”
Peter took his job responsibilities seriously as he cautiously learned new skills. When given the opportunity, his diligence, perseverance, and dedication shone through. For nearly ten years, Peter worked as a financial administrator and web designer at IMI and for five years as a research reporter at the business newspaper Westfair, where he never missed a weekly submission. He also built his own gig business involving Advanced Excel, PhotoShop, Word Press, and PowerPoint.
Peter is survived by his mother and father, his two brothers, David and Stephen, and his very large, extended family. Peter is predeceased by his grandparents, including his grandmothers, Marguerite Evans and Mary Rubino. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at St. Catherine’s of Siena in Riverside, CT on Friday, May 21, 2021 and at a reception elsewhere, immediately following the service. Further details are available at leogallaghergreenwich.com. Peter will be missed by all who knew this gentle, trusting soul.
