Moira Ann Scott

Moira was born in New York City on October 17, 1938, to William and Sarah (Lavelle) Linehan. She lived much of her early life on East 82nd Street in Manhattan. She grew up with her two older brothers, Danny and Willie and her two younger sisters Kathleen and Eileen. Two of Moira’s closest friends through life were her sisters Kathleen Cluer and Eileen Raucci.

82nd Street was where Moira met the love of her life, Johnny (Jack) Scott. They married in 1956 and enjoyed a great life together until Jack’s passing in 2017. Moira and Jack had five children, eight grandchildren and most recently Moira became a great grandmother with the birth of Victoria Scott.

In 1974, when her youngest child started kindergarten, Moira went back to school and received her first degree in nursing. In 1986, she went back to school and proudly received her RN in Nursing from Columbia University.

Moira worked at Stamford Hospital, then Greenwich Hospital and spent her later career at the Greenwich Nursing Registry. She developed close lifelong friendships at the Registry with her colleagues Jackie, Gail, Kathy, Marian and Crystal. They were a close group who laughed their way through life both inside and outside of the office.

Moira spent many Saturday nights dining and dancing with her husband and friends. She loved traveling to Europe, Caribbean cruises, winters in Fairhope, AL, visiting her friends in Venice FL or the Jersey Shore with her family. She always made time for her grandchildren and forged a special relationship with each of them

Moira had a gift for connecting with others from all walks of life. On a trip to Italy, Moira’s sisters found her deep in conversation with a shopkeeper. Moira spoke no Italian and the shopkeeper spoke little English, but that did not stand in the way of a great conversation.

Moira created an inviting home where all were welcome. It did not matter whether it was her large family for an impromptu dinner, friends stopping by to say hello, or her children’s friends dancing in the living room, everyone was greeted warmly.

Moira is survived by her children Frank (Mary Ellen) Scott; Mark Scott (Vivian Ventriglia); Mary Scott; Bill (Karen) Scott; Eileen (Philip) Antinone. She is survived by her sisters Eileen (John) Raucci and Kathleen Cluer. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael (Carmella) Scott, Conor Scott, Rose Lavelle, Maggie Scott, Max Antinone, Kate Scott; JR Antinone, Audrey Antinone, and great-granddaughter Victoria Scott. She is survived by her niece and nephews Jonathan Raucci, Ashley (Chris) Connaughton, Owen Cluer (Nyssa Preinitz), Chace Connaughton and Logan Connaughton. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Jack and brothers Danny and Willy.

Moira was a tremendous woman with a warm hug She had a warm hug, a kind word and a contagious laugh. As you reflect on Moira’s life, pour yourself a cup of tea or a glass of wine. Dine, dance and laugh.

Visitation will be at the Leo P Gallagher Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT on Thursday January 12, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A service will be held on Friday January 13, 2023 at St Catherine of Sienna Church, 4 Riverside Ave, Riverside, CT at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich, CT.
