Anne McCarthy Stack, passed away on October 26, 2016 at the age of 82. Born in Syracuse, NY, she grew up in Skaneateles, NY and was a graduate of Cornell University and Manhattanville College. She taught school in White Plains, Baltimore and at Greenwich High School in special education. She was active in the Literacy Volunteers organization and, an accomplished pianist, served as an organist and lector at St. Agnes RC Church in Greenwich. Predeceased by her brother Charles H. McCarthy, she is survived by her husband of 58 years, Peter, sons James P. Stack of Charleston, SC, David W. Stack of Norfolk, MA and Christopher J. Stack of Stamford, CT. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Mairead Claire Stack and Declan Walker Stack of Norfolk, MA, two daughter-in-law’s, Claire Stack and Julie Stack. Also surviving Anne is her sister Mary Jeanne Hutchins and brother John Donald McCarthy. A member of the English Speaking Union she was a devoted wife and loving mother.
Her family will receive friends from 5pm to 7 pm on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St, Greenwich.
