Tom Bailey died in the early hours of October 25, 2014. Born in Ferndale, Michigan, he was the son of the late Louie G. Bailey and Betty J. Gilliam. Tom served proudly and honorably in the United States Coast Guard and was decorated with the "Good Conduct Award" and the U.S. Coast Guard's "Sea Service Ribbon" among others. In later years he worked as an industrial fuel driver and in recent years, as a dedicated Funeral Home assistant until his health prevented him from serving further. Those who worked with Tom at Woodlawn Funeral Home, remember him as a kind and quiet man. The staff (present and past) regard him as one of Woodlawn's most loyal and dependable human beings; a calming, quiet friend to many. He is survived by his Aunt and a Sister.
A gathering for those who knew and worked with Tom in years past will be held Sunday November 2, 2014 from 5:00 -7:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11:00am in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with his surviving family members and directed by the staff he loved so well. Burial to follow with military honors at M.J. Dolly National Cemetery in Anderson, SC.
