Stephen Edward McCloud, 36, of Greenville, met his Savior, Jesus, early Friday morning in his sleep, December 14, 2018, due to complications with a congenital heart condition. He attended Bob Jones University and North Greenville University, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
He was born in Dearborn, Michigan, on June 4, 1982, where he developed a lifelong love of Detroit Tigers baseball. He grew up in Greenville where he met his childhood sweetheart and best friend, Kara, in fifth grade while playing the computer game, Oregon Trail. Stephen thought he loved soccer when he played in high school, but it took on a whole new meaning when he was able to coach his sons’ soccer team. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his boys.
From an early age, Stephen had a gift for understanding technology. As a child, his parent’s neighbors would regularly request that Stephen come over and make the “12:00 stop flashing” on their VCR. He was able to parlay this gift into a career in Information Technology and ultimately owning his own business, McCloud Technologies Group, LLC. This profession gave him a platform to pursue his true passion, loving others well. Stephen never met a stranger. Because of his genuine love for people, it was not uncommon for people to share their deepest hurts with him. Stephen was often the knock on many of our doors in our darkest hour.
He loved taking his boys camping; going to the beach with his family; hiking with friends; playing in the snow; playing golf; and any other adventure that involved bringing people together.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kara Frans McCloud; his sons, Gabriel (5), Gavin (3), and Graham (1); his parents, Ken and Jan McCloud; his brother, David and Mirelys McCloud; his sister, Sarah and Eric Tessmann; his in-laws, Rick and Marsha Frans; brothers-in-law, Joel and Wendy Frans and Luke and Katarina Frans; and his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He understood that his time on this earth was temporary. He is not dead. He is alive.
Memorial services will be held at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church on Monday, December 17, 2018, with visitation beginning at 4:30 and the funeral to follow at 5:30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church with funds designated for an education fund to be established for the McCloud children.
