Beloved wife and mother, Sharon Snyder Baker, died Sunday, June 18, 2023. She leaves behind her husband of 51 years, Paul Frederick Baker, and son, JD (Jonathan David) Baker of Rancho Mirage, CA. A native of SC, she had retired back to Greenville in recent years to be closer to friends and family.
Sharon was known for her gracious hospitality and lively interest in all kinds of travel. She loved serving others and was proud to be involved with the South Carolina- based foundation, Circle 555, which is dedicated to serving women, children, and families. She invested her time and energy in friends near and far, particularly enjoying her ladies “Lunch Bunch” circle that met monthly, and where some of us wondered how a group could talk for five or more hours non-stop.
Sharon was a person of a deep and abiding faith who was actively involved in her local Community Bible Study and shared a lifelong commitment with Paul to their walk in Christ.
She was preceded in death by her father James Wesley Snyder, her mother Rachael Hicks Snyder, and her youngest brother Philip Alton Snyder. In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by her brother, Jimmy Snyder and his wife Susan; brother, Ricky Snyder; sister, Beverly Snyder Cormican and her husband John, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Sharon will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Circle 555 — South Carolina Christian Foundation, https://www.sccfonline.org/circle555.
