Roy Thomas Cochrane, age 70, passed away on August 16, 2017 in Greenville after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Roy was the son of the late Samuel and Thyra Cochrane. He was preceded in death by his brother Gil.
Roy was a graduate of Northeastern University and later obtained an MBA from Tulane University. He worked for several years in Dearborn, Michigan, as a systems analyst for Ford Motor Company. In 1976, he and his then wife, Phyllis, moved to Greenville after purchasing Graphic Printing and Mailing. Their three daughters were all born in Greenville. Roy was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses over the years, including TNT Color Lab.
Throughout his adult life Roy was a competitive tennis player. After his retirement, Roy volunteered for several organizations, including the RoundTowners, and enjoyed taking senior classes through the OLLI program at Furman University.
Roy is survived by his three daughters: Laura Fee and her husband Kevin, Lisa Thomason and her husband Micah, and Kathleen Cochrane and her husband Sri Katragadda. Roy’s grandchildren include Isabella Fee, 7, Alexandra Fee, 4, Pearl Katragadda, 21 months, and Baby Girl Katragadda, due August 25th. Also surviving is his beloved niece and godchild Irene Pedersen.
The family would like to thank all of Roy’s friends from the tennis community, the OLLI program, and the RoundTowners for their faithfulness in visiting Roy and preparing meals for him during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Roy's name to the Cancer Society of Greenville at 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC, 29605. A memorial service will be held honoring his life on Saturday, September 23rd at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC at 2 p.m.
