He was born on July 21, 1949, the second son of the late William P. and Margaret Genevich Eaves, in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 18, he recognized his need of a Savior and by faith believed the Good News of forgiveness of sins and acceptance with God through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Out of a heart of love and profound gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice for him, he sought to please God and devoted his life to His service. He taught Bible at Bob Jones University in the Institute of Christian Service, the School of Applied Studies, and the School of Religion for forty-three years. He loved his students, prayed for them, encouraged them, and rejoiced in those who continued to follow Christ in many walks of life. He pastored Bible Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC and taught on the mission fields of Cambodia, Cameroon, and Grenada. He loved people, and after retirement, he continued to teach at church and to work at Publix and finally at Mackey Funerals and Cremations where he made many dear friends.
Perhaps his greatest ministry was to his own family whom he loved and served selflessly. He was a steadfast example of a consistent, humble, godly husband and father who prayed regularly for each member of his family and desired that each one follow Jesus. He was the father of Dr. Heather McNeely (Dr. Brent), Shannon (Dustin Melton), and Kevin (Allison). He was the grandfather of Brendan (Jasmine), Colin, Dillon, and Camryn McNeely; Emma Kate and Ellerie Brooks; Phoebe Eaves; and Emily Melton.
He is survived by his brothers, Michael, Gordon (Leslie), William (Mary), and David (Judy) Eaves, and a sister Diane Burton. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Eaves, and a sister, Karen Eaves, and by two sisters-in-law, Jill Darlington Dooley, Cynthia Guyot Eaves and by a brother-in-law, William Burton.
