Dick was born January 9, 1938 in Greenville, SC and graduated from Greenville High School before serving in the US Navy Reserves.
Prior to Simpsonville, Dick resided in Mount Pleasant, Newberry, Spartanburg and Greenville. He was employed by Duke Power for 30 years and upon retirement, was district manager of Newberry, Clinton, Prosperity, and Laurens, SC. While in Mount Pleasant, he established Southern Charm Landscaping in1985, and retired from the business in 2012.
Dick was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of Christ Community Church Simpsonville. Previous church memberships include East Cooper Baptist in Mount Pleasant, Aveleigh Presbyterian of Newberry, First Baptist of Spartanburg, and Sans Souci Baptist of Greenville. He served as a deacon, chaperone for youth and senior citizens, Sunday school and Training Union leader at First Baptist in Spartanburg, and as an elder at Aveleigh Presbyterian.
Dick was predeceased by wife Linda P. Shoaf (1995); son Richard G. Shoaf (2008); grandson Eston R. G. Shoaf (2018); parents Richard E. Shoaf and Ruth Hackett Shoaf; and siblings William (Bill) Shoaf and wife, Rae, and Patricia (Patty) Shoaf.
He is survived by wife Pamala (Pam) S. Shoaf of the home, daughter Deborah (Debbie) J. Shoaf of Spartanburg, stepdaughter Kelley M. Stovall (Jeff) of Greenville, and grandchildren Richard Kelley, Ashleigh Kelley, Hudson Francis, Kameron Stovall and Khloe Stovall.
Dick was laid to rest privately on January 5, 2024.
