Park Hampton Owings, 55, of Greenville, husband of the late Ann Todd Neely Owings, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 at his home.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Deroy and Mary Duncan Owings. Park attended Texas Christian University and graduated from The University of Georgia. He loved Georgia football, and visiting Athens, Georgia with his daughters. His greatest passion was swimming, officiating, and being a part of the pool deck. He loved coaching his Christ Church swim team. Some of his proudest moments were winning the 2014-2015 state championship, being inducted into the coaches Hall of Fame, and being coach of the year. He was a member of the Board of Trustees for SAIL Swimming at the Stone Lake Community Pool. He was a member of Christ Church Episcopal Church in Greenville, South Carolina.
Park enjoyed teaching Wednesday night church at Christ Church. He always went out of his way to make sure each and every person who walked in or around his classroom left with a smile and laugh. Sunday mornings were a prime time for Park, he loved cooking with the men bright and early.
Park was a family man, he loved his daughters deeply. He was one proud father and made sure everyone knew. He raised and taught his daughters love and loyalty. Park was the most loyal friend, father, and partner. He’d never let you down.
Park was and will always be the most amazing man. He loved each and every one of his friends and family members deeply.
Park is survived by his two daughters, Neely Owings of Charleston, South Carolina, and Sylvia Owings of Greenville, South Carolina; one brother, Tony Owings (Tonie Michelle) of Greenville, South Carolina; two sisters, Deborah Owings of Greenville, South Carolina, and Patricia Mitchell (Allen) of The Woodlands, Texas; and four nieces and nephews, Richard Thomas Owings of Duncan, South Carolina, and Craig, Denise, and Stephanie Mitchell all of Texas.
In addition to his wife and parents, Park is preceded in death by one nephew, Terrance Owings.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Christ Church Episcopal, 10 N. Church Street, Greenville, South Carolina 29601.
A go fund me has been created in honor of Park Owings. The donations will go towards the funeral and other expenses.
