Born September 25, 1927 in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Hoyt Brown and Minnie Louise Brown.
She was a 1945 graduate of Greenville High School. Mrs. Locke was a longtime volunteer at St. Francis Hospital and with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church and the Senior Fellowship Life Group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Decatur Locke, Jr.; a daughter, Susan Locke Franks; and a brother, Clyde Hoyt Brown, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Tena Locke Hellams and Tom of Louisville, KY and Paige Locke Parks and Jody of Greenwood, SC; a sister, Shirley Brown Henry of Maryville, TN; and “Mama Mary’s” four grandchildren, Katie Hellams Scott and husband Adam, John Hellams and wife Jessica, Andrew Parks and Benjamin Parks.
Services will be conducted at 2pm Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Taylors First Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Jimmie Harley, Dr. Tom Hellams, Rev. Francis Alewine and Rev. John Hellams.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30pm in the Gathering Room at the church.
The family will also receive friends at 107 Chipwood Lane, Greenville, SC on Friday, April 1, 2016 between the hours of 11am and 7pm.
The family would like to express appreciation to Patti Bragg, the staff of Windsor House and Open Arms Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice or to the Senior Fellowship Life Group at Taylors First Baptist Church.
