Lois Romaine Moudy Hampson went to be with her Lord on November 21, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born on July 16, 1930, to the late Frederick Ray and Elsie Seaman Moudy in Wilmore, Pennsylvania. She was born again at the age of 14 but dedicated her life to the Lord in July, 1950.
She graduated from Portage Borough High School with honors in May, 1948. After attending Lock Haven State Teachers College as a physical education major for two years, she transferred to Bob Jones University in 1950 and graduated in May, 1952.
Lois was asked to return to BJU as a physical education instructor for the 1952-53 school year, but contacted a disease which hindered activity. In 1953 she was asked to serve as secretary to Mrs. Lillian Brown, Principal of Bob Jones Academy.
In June of 1953, Lois married Harold W. Hampson, a marine. He was honorably discharged and entered BJU as an accounting major after having served his country for three years, including one year in Korea. When he graduated in 1956 from BJU, he accepted an auditor assignment with Arthur Anderson Accounting firm in Atlanta.
In 1958 they were asked by BJU to return as instructors, where Lois taught typing and assisted in various office assignments. In 1959, Harold (Chick) wanted more accounting experience, so they moved to California where he worked for Flying Tiger Lines and Lockheed.
Harold (Chick) and Lois had three children: Deanna Hampson, David Hampson, and Daniel Hampson. Lois is preceded in death by her daughter Deborah Hampson Labins and her four siblings.
For many years, Lois sang in choirs, taught Sunday School as well as leading singing for the junior department with large illustrated songs that she had compose. They attended Faith Baptist Church of Canoga Park, California, for 21 years. She taught in business colleges, and taught and coached some sports. Since 1987 she played golf frequently in mostly par-3 courses.
In 2001, Lois moved back to Greenville, South Carolina. She did some choir singing, hospital volunteering, and maintained a home. She attended Hampton Park Church of Greenville for 12 years and Faith Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina since 2013.
A visitation for Lois will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609 follow by funeral service at 2:00 PM. A committal service will occur Woodlawn Memorial Park.
