Katherine "Kathy" Elizabeth Pickens

Katherine (Kathy) Pickens passed peacefully from this earth into Heaven on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the age of 62. Kathy was special in all ways, was well-loved by family and friends and was truly a child of God. She loved doing embroidery, knitting, crocheting, drawing, painting, singing, puzzles and watching movies. Kathy enjoyed life and was known for her beautiful artwork, funny comments, her happy nature and her love of shrimp, which she called “skrimps.”

Kathy is survived by sister and brother-in-law Melissa and Lewis McWhite (Greenville, SC), sister Christina Sands (Tucker, GA), brother Brian Pickens (Fountain Inn, SC) and brother and sister-in-law Gene and Monique Pickens (San Antonio, TX). Also survived by nieces Morgan McWhite, Macy McWhite, Alexis Pickens Fetner, and Chloe Pickens and nephews Preston and Tristan Pickens and her aunt Rachel Wittschen (Evans, GA). Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Holland Pickens, her father Fred Pickens, her youngest sister, Amy Pickens and her faithful dog Ginger.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Thrive Greer CRCF group home, including the house manager, Tamara Morton, for all the love and care given to Kathy while she lived there. They made the house a home for the residents and created a family of all who lived and worked there.

We would also like to thank the loving staff of McCall Hospice (Open Arms Hospice) in Simpsonville, SC, for the precious care they gave to Kathy and her family during her last days on this earth.

Her funeral celebration will be on Saturday, March 10 at 11:00 AM (followed by visitation) in The Remembrance Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. Please wear bright colors and share any fun memories you have of Kathy!
