Born in Detroit, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Richard Shaughnessy and Jeanette Dunn Fields. Julia was a retired Medical Transcriptionist with Peconic Bay Medical Center. She attended Taylors First Baptist Church. Julia enjoyed gardening, photography, reading, and baking cookies. She was known for her interior decorating talent, her beautiful flower gardens, her love of music, and her ability to plan and host the most elegant of dinner parties. As a dedicated example of commitment to her family, Julia showed her devotion by attending recitals, tournaments, and school programs, walking miles to find the perfect gift, caring for elderly parents, giving hugs when they were needed most for comfort, and creating a welcoming home environment, where friends and family could meet to enjoy each other’s company. To her, family was the most important part of life. She loved children and was a fierce advocate on their behalf. Always standing up for the underdog, Julia will be remembered for taking people under her wing and providing love and support to anyone in need of an adopted family.
Julia is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Scoles; a son, Brian Scoles (Cheryl); two grandchildren, Reagan Scoles and Joshua Scoles; two brothers, James Fields and Richard Shaughnessy; and two sisters, Janet Priscantelli and Gail Tease.
