Just heard about Jerry's passing. Wanted to send deepest sympathy.   I loved working with you and Jerry at Edward Jones all of those years.  Always enjoyed having you stop by.

So glad we know where he is.  It is times like these we have to hold on to our faith.

Margret, so sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing.  Over the years in the steel business I always enjoyed talking with Jerry.  Many times he would stop by my office and say hello. I have so many memories of sweet Jerry! He was always very welcoming to me and my sister, and he was a very best friend to my parents. We spent many holidays together growing up and went on a cruise together in the early 90’s. 

There are family members you don’t get to choose and ones that you do. I’m really grateful for our chosen Yeargin family and feel very blessed to have gotten to spend time with Jerry especially. His sweet spirit, fierce devotion to his family, and adventurous heart have always been very inspiring to me. And I will carry his memory with me going forward for years to come. I have a feeling he will always be with our family members in big and small ways.  For you never truly lose someone whom you carry with you in your heart. And there will be many stories to continue telling. Love you guys.

I grew up with the “Yeargin boys” played football with Brian and Jerry was like a second father to me. He was always a man to look up to on my eyes. Someone I could try to be like. Someone who had the work ethic, drive, family commitments, and love of community that I would like to have as I continued with my life. We have lost a great man here on earth with Jerry’s passing but heaven has gained an angel. Rest In Peace Jerry we will always remember you!

My name is Eric Bryant and to most of Wren, Powdersville and Piedmont, I’m just a Coach.  (baseball, basketball, football, soccer).  I met Jerry several years ago through coaching baseball with his son Michael and his grandson Mason was on our team.  My son, Mcgill, and my Father, Don, and I enjoyed talking aviation with Jerry and had a deep respect for his service to our country.   My Dad, Don, enjoyed talking with Jerry as they both served our country in Vietnam.   Both my father and Jerry were pilots and my Dad instilled a love of aviation within me.  Jerry was a kind and gracious man and it is evident Jerry’s relationship with Christ shaped his interactions and actions with others.  May we all reflect upon his life and example and learn to become more like Christ while on earth with a personal relationship with our Creator.  Michael and I are now coaching basketball together.  My and the teams prayers are for peace and comfort for the Yeargin family to feel and know the Holy Spirit’s presence in this time and the assuring promise that Jerry is in Heaven with his Creator.  My prayer is for all that knew him and the man he was and is, will see the relationship that he had and has with our Creator and that they would come to know Jesus in a personal way.  To the Yeargin family, we will be praying for you, as will our Mt. Airy Sunday School class, and will be here to help any way we can.   Mcgill, Bray, Kate, Eric

Troy and I have been reminiscing about Jerry these past few days.  Troy told me that he knew if he ever were to need anything and Jerry could do it, he would be right there.  Of course, he enjoyed playing tennis with you two in his younger days. Much love to all of the Yeargins.

When I moved to South Carolina about 20 years ago, I was hired by Carolina First Bank to be a Branch Manager at a small branch in Piedmont, SC.  When for the first time I drove through Piedmont and had a look at the branch building, I must confess that I had some worry about how this would go. However, I found that the present staff in the branch along with the very friendly people in Piedmont gave me such a good feeling that I then welcomed the opportunity to try to make this move and employment a success. Soon after I began my employment and physically started working in the branch, I met many of the present customers who made me feel very welcome even if they did call me "Yankee" quite often, but they meant this in an enduring way. I could name many of these individuals who made it very easy for me to feel comfortable and welcome. However, there was one specific man who came into my office to introduce himself, welcome me to Piedmont, give me some history of Piedmont, and offer to me his help in any way he could. I think that we talked about two hours. And believe me, it was two hours where I not only gathered a ton of valuable information and advice, but this man and I formed a unique friendship immediately that lasted for the 15 years I worked in that branch and beyond. The man I refer to of course is Jerry Yeargin. I could go on and on about how much my relationship with Jerry helped me and the Piedmont Branch become a true success. And I could list hundreds (no exaggeration here) of ways and examples of how he helped me, but that would take a novel and not a simple message like this. Simply put however is what many have already said about Jerry in that he was truly a good man that from my point of view made him a great man.

I was a childhood friend of Margaret and a neighbor of the Yeargin Family growing up on Brandon.  
I lost contact with a lot of friends after leaving SC in '68, but I was able to visit with Margaret at her Moms, several times on my trips home to visit my Grandmother and Relatives. These visits were always special to me.
My Prayer is that Margaret and Family will find strength along with love during this hard and stressful time of their life.
Memories keep everyone close in heart and thoughts.

                                 





Jerry and I became close friends at Hollis Jr High. Jerry found out that Duckworth grocery had  after school job opportunity. We took the job and I provided transportation. I had full driving privileges and Jerry would buy the gas and I furnished the car. During an ice storm we were at Cleveland Park doing wheelies around and around. The 50 Chev had a rust problem and the back legs fell through the floor board and we ended up in the back seat. 
Jerry was a great guy to work with and he knew his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and gave testimony.

Jerry, my best friends’ husband, Margaret, will be missed by all who knew him. Margaret and Jerry, married almost 53 years ago, were not only husband and wife but, best friends. I met Jerry in the 60s before they married and I knew at once they loved each other. They let me hang around while on some of their dates and I was always thrilled to be with them . Margaret, Til to me, always referred to Jerry as Her Sweetheart, even after the birth of three sons and 52 years of marriage. Til and family, you will remain  in my heart and prayers forever and I am so very sorry for the loss of your precious Jerry.  Love, Loretta Martin Crowley.

When I take time to reflect on Jerry Yeargin, I confess I do not have many memories with him. However, that does not mean I failed to get a sense of who he was. Among his admirable traits I had the pleasure of witnessing, the one that stands out to me is his authenticity. He was an active listener and offered kind eyes to those whom he listened to. He was a great friend to my grandparents; I’m very thankful for that. My condolences go out to Margaret and the rest of the Yeargin family. I will be praying for you all. -Cameron Dragoo

Jerry is one of those rare people you feel very fortunate to have known, a truly wonderful person. I can only imagine the loss you must feel. You have been in my thoughts & prayers constantly over the past few weeks and continue in hopes of easing the burden of Jerry's loss.  May God be with you all.


I was eating in a restaurant in Piedmont one time with my mother and we were arguing (being silly) who would pay the bill. He was in front of us in line and paid it all for us. He was a good man. My husband worked for him and Jerry always treated Leroy well.
