A heavily decorated Navy and Coast Guard veteran, Jeremiah served his country with honor and dignity for 9 years, earning a bronze star as well as multiple marksmanship and excellence ribbons for his time of service on the USS Paul Hamilton DDG60. His brotherhood of shipmates spoke highly of his loyalty and dedication to not only his family but his country too. To know Jeremiah was to love him, and to love him was to see the importance of family and honor to him. His kindness and his gentleness was proof of his devotion to his family and to those around him.
Jeremiah enjoyed peaceful walks and quality time with his loved ones. He was a caring son, a heroic brother, and a loving father and will be missed greatly by those who were lucky enough to know him.
Jeremiah is preceded in death by his grandparents, Darlene and Al DeWitt. He is survived by his daughter, Alex Marie Stern; his mother, Kari Stern Lipham; “Pa” Mark Lipham; and his brother, Jedediah Stern.
Jeremiah was awarded several ribbons during his time of service, including: Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Expert Pistol Shot, and Good Conduct Medallion.
Services for Jeremiah will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC 29609. Dates and times will be posted soon.
