Jim left the burdens of an aging body behind when he stepped into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday afternoon. He was a member of Covenant Church in Greer SC and lived in Greenville SC.
Jim was born in Royston Georgia to the late John M. and Fannie Ruth Vaughn. He was a 1960 graduate of Wake Forest University with a BS in Chemistry and retired from Lubrizol in Fountain Inn SC. He was preceded in death by his wife Lilla Ballard Vaughn, a daughter Jennifer Vaughn, his second wife Doris Reaser Vaughn and a son James Raymond Vaughn Jr. He is survived by his loving daughters Robin Vaughn and husband Scott Tompkins and Ruth (Tommy) Duncan. He is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC 29609 on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 12:00 PM with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The American Cancer Society.
