Grady Eugene Watson, 93, of Greenville, died October 1, 2014, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. He grew up in Pickens County as the son of the late Leo and Sallie Watson of Six Mile. For 56 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of the late Louise Cassell Watson until her death in 2004. Grady is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Barton (Johnny) of Greenville and Gayle Thurn (Brad) of Powdersville; his grandsons, James Thurn (Jenna) of Easley and Ryan Thurn of Greenville; and his sister; Ruth Owen of Greenville. Grady spent his career in banking and finance at the South Carolina National Bank, C. Douglas Wilson Company and NCNB. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific in World War II before marrying Louise Cassell in 1947. They lived in Greenville and had two daughters who graduated from Clemson University and spent their careers in education. Grady was an avid Clemson fan. He was a long-time member of Northgate Baptist Church and served as the treasurer of the Pleasantburg Lions' Club for forty-seven years. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Greenville. The funeral service will follow at-3:00 p.m. in the chapel with interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Pleasantburg Lions' Club.
