George Patrick King, affectionately known as "Bumpy" to his friends and family, bid farewell to this world on July 15, 2024. Born in Jamaica, George lived a life guided by his deep Christian faith and a delightful sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew him.
From his early days, George’s mischievous grin and infectious laughter were his trademarks. His enthusiasm for life was contagious, and he never missed an opportunity to bring a smile to someone's face.
George was not just a man of laughter, but also a man of great faith. His faith was not confined to Sundays; it permeated every aspect of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him. His devotion to God was matched only by his dedication to his family, whom he loved dearly and always kept entertained with his witty anecdotes and playful antics.
Throughout his life, George exemplified the principles of kindness, generosity, and humility. He was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a joke to lighten someone's burden. His kindness and compassion endeared him to many and left an enduring impression on the family and friends he cherished.
George was preceded in death by his father, Lester King, and his mother, Phyllis Bradshaw. He is survived by his wife, Monica King; his son, Andrew King; his stepson, Jonathan Chapman; his brother, Marlon (Sandra, Damien, Brandon) Valentine; and his sister Yasmeen (Yasin, Kamal) Khalil; as well as numerous friends, extended family and colleagues who were blessed to have known him. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of George's life will be held on July 27, 2024, in the chapel at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills in George's honor.
As we bid farewell to George, let us carry forward his legacy of faith, laughter, and kindness. May his spirit continue to shine brightly in our memories and inspire us to live each day with joy and compassion, and may his soul rest in eternal peace.
