A native of Greenville, Ann was the daughter of Grace Chandler Newell.
Ann graduated from Greenville High School and received her BA and MA from Furman University. She was an early childhood major and taught kindergarten in the Greenville County schools for 14years. She was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church.
Ann loved being with her family. In her retirement, she enjoyed keeping up with the news, reading, word puzzles, needle work, and “piddling.”
Surviving are a daughter, Constance “Connie” Brown Harris of Mauldin; her son, Michael Chandler Brown, of Tucson, Arizona; her daughter-in-law, Gracie Brown of Belton; her grandchildren Robin Bracken of Williamston and Matthew Brown of Belton; and several great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Frank Nixon Brown, Jr.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Woodlawn Funeral Home at 2:00 pm . The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm following the visitation.
