David Eugene Ward, 63, of Greenville, SC, peacefully passed away at his home on 12/22/23 after a battle with cancer. He was born on October 21, 1960, in Greenville, SC to Brady E. and Jo Ann Mize Ward.
David graduated from Parker High School, and was dedicated to his craft as an electrician, eventually taking the reigns from his father as CEO of Ward Electrical. David led Ward Electrical as a gracious boss and friend to his team.
Widely known for his tremendous generosity and keen cooking abilities, David was a kind and loving husband, stepfather, Papa, brother, and uncle. He will always be remembered for the time he spent teaching his grandchildren how to fish and drive his boat.
David was predeceased by his parents Brady and Jo Ann Mize Ward, and first wife Rhonda Norton Ward. He leaves behind his wife Cheryl Ann Ward, a brother, Morris Ward (Carol Anne), 3 step-daughters Angie (Russell) Evatt, Andrea Arledge (Tony Jones), and Adrian Howard; 7 grandchildren – Weston, Zachary, Avery, Ansley, Owen, Brandon, Carson, 2 great-grandchildren Karver and Dawson, niece Morgan Ward Greer (Mitch), nephew Brady Ward Junior (Emily); great-nephews Dean and Waylon, and great niece Nora.
To know David was to love him, and he was a true leader as he led with compassion and empathy that was truly rare. He was fiercely dedicated to the Sam Poe Lodge and his lodge brothers where they together are known for their generosity to their community.
In celebration of his life, visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 2, at Mackey at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC at 12 noon, with the funeral following at 2 pm.
