Pre-deceased by husband Robert Donald West, parents Clayton Hayes and Myrtle Phillips Hayes Spencer, and one sister, Joyce Hayes Martin, Dale is survived by son Jeffrey West of Arlington, VA, and daughter Amanda (Andy) Treese of Tucker, GA. Also surviving are grandchildren Naomi West, Luke West, and Calvin Treese, and one sister, Ginger (Gene) Hayes Kirby.
A graduate of Winthrop University, she was employed in advertising at WSPA and WFBC radio stations. Dale later became known throughout regional shops and craft fairs for her smocking and quilting. Dale was a passionate researcher of ancestry and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Greenville before moving to Decatur in her later years.
A memorial service will be held on April 29, 2025 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC 29609 with visitation at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will be at Graceland East Memorial Park, 2206 Woodruff Rd, Simpsonville, SC 29681, following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
