Bobbie Sue McCurley Kraft

She was born in Elberton, GA on November 2, 1930 to Horace Julian McCurley and Bernice Rose Allen McCurley. The eldest of four children, she was a great help at home to her mother who had a variety of health issues as well as her next younger sister Camilla having contracted Polio at the age of two.

Bobbie is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Gerald “Jerry” Allen Kraft, two daughters, Suzy Neal (Danny) and Laura Kraft McKee, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two siblings, her sister Tempie Perry (Jack) and her brother Jerry McCurley (Di). She is pre-deceased by her sister Camilla Grossi (Henry) of Latina Italy.

She was a graduate of Greenville High School and Draughn’s Business College. At the age of 18 she began work at The Prudential Insurance Company, where she worked for 45 years, attaining the position of Assistant Office Manager before retiring. She loved her Prudential family and serving others whether at work, home, or church.

Her love for the Lord permeated everything she touched. She loved every person she met and prayed for each person and need diligently and faithfully. Her early church years were spent at Holmes Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Greenville, where she was married. For most of her married life, she and her husband served the Lord faithfully at Mt Zion Christian Fellowship.

Her pastime endeavors included sewing, rug hooking and passing these loves along to her two girls. She made many outfits for the girls as well as beautiful home furnishings. With her rug hooking she and her mother and sisters made many rugs and wall hangings over the years.

She also enjoyed sports. Her husband Jerry taught his bride to play golf and together they spent many hours side by side enjoying sunny days together. No matter where they went or where they were, shopping, at church, taking a walk, or watching football on TV… yes Mom loved football…, they were always holding hands! 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital of Greenville. This hospital was near to her heart because her sister was treated there for Polio throughout her childhood.

A visitation for Bobbie will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at Freedom Church, 304 East Butler Road, Mauldin, SC. Her funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM.
