Wayne Carl Baker, 77 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday December 11, 2024, at 6:14 PM at his residence. Wayne was born February 27, 1947, in Fort Jefferson, Ohio, the son of the late Farrell Baker and Anna Lee (Landers) Dawson.
Wayne owned and operated his own landscaping business and then took over Bakers Fruit Farm from his father and owned and operated it. Wayne was a 1965 graduate of Greenville High School and a 1970 graduate of the Ohio State University with a degree in Pomology and Horticulture. Wayne was devoted member of Northside Community Fellowship Church. He was a member of Sertoma where he served as president and Governor. He and Nancy enjoyed being snowbirds in Florida and traveling the United States.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Irene Baker; his stepfather, Franklin Dawson, his -in-laws, Hilton and Irene Smith; his brother-in-law, Dale Smith; and grandparents, Carl and Grace Landers.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Nancy (Smith) Baker of Greenville whom he married September 7, 1968; his sisters and brothers in law, Linda and Steve Nixon of Greenville, and Sherry and Mark Echeman of Greenville; his brother in law, Bob (Sharon) Smith; and his cousin and spouse, Karen and Walt Patterson and other cousins.
Services will be held on Tuesday December 17, 2024, at 2:30 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Randy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Northside Community Fellowship Church.
