Preceding Lewis in death were his parents Ed and Opal (Reel); brothers Francis and Robert Lease; sister Carole Lease; and grandson Corey Allread.
Born April 11, 1937, Lewis loved playing music, "turning wrenches," big campfires, bluegrass festivals, and "last minute car rides.” He served in the Ohio Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in March 1962. Through his life Lewis enjoyed working at Art's Pure Oil Station, Shrader’s Retreading, and the Greenville Golf Course. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Lewis also was a member of the American Legion and the Ohio Kentucky Indiana Bluegrass Association and helped establish some of the now well-known bluegrass festivals.
Surviving Lewis is the mother of his children, Carolyn Warvel, children Mona (Dan) Stachler, Jana (Doug) Kolling, Lana (John) Johnston; sisters Betty Brodrick, Marilyn (Gene) Fritz; grandchildren Harrison, Dalton, Louree, Harmony, Greer and Parker, and great-grandchildren PJ, Emmitt, Summer and Natalie, as well as his loving cat, Barney.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Darke Co. Cancer Association or Everheart Hospice.
Lewis' Celebration of Life will be held at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11AM to 12PM with a service starting at 12:30, followed by a graveside service at Greenville Union Cemetery.
