John passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, September 27th, 2024.
Born in Kentucky on December 16, 1937 to parents Luther and Nettie (Begley) Adams, John grew up knowing the Lord and has returned to Him after a long, full life.
John had one son, Marc (Shelley) Adams, of Sidney, Ohio, and one daughter, Stephanie DiGioia, of Zephryhills, FL. John married his wife, Ruth “Ann” (Collett), on May 9, 1983. They lived a beautiful 41 years together before her passing on May 15, 2024.
John was a Navy veteran and was very proud of his service. He knew how to fix anything and everything - and even built his own home from the ground up where he and his wife, Ruth “Ann”, resided in West Alexandria, Ohio. John was known to live by the watch and always knew the time. John loved country western music and movies, spending as much time as he could outdoors, and always rooted for the Kentucky Wildcats. John will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
John is survived by his son, Marc (Shelley) Adams, daughter, Stephanie DiGioia, sisters, Mary “Kathryn” Smith, and Sandra “Lou” Mayabb, step sons, Mike (Glenda) Thomas, Don (Rhonda) Thomas, and Jim Thomas, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth “Ann”, his siblings, Luther “Wayne” Adams and Marjorie “Ann” Combs, and his parents, Luther and Nettie Jeanette Adams.
A service for John will be held on Friday October 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Brookville, Ohio with entombment following. Veterans graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
In remembrance of John’s life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Parkinson's Foundation, Alzheimer's Society, or Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
