Dorothy Day

Dorothy Jean Louise Day, age 79 of Greenville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 5:25 PM at the Village Green Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. Born in Homestead, PA on September 26, 1942 she was one of 3 daughters to the late George & Mary (Soychak) Macuga. Dorothy was a graduate of Munhall High School in Pennsylvania. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville, and was a former member of the Rosary Alter Society. She enjoyed gambling in Las Vegas, playing bingo, reading books and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes play football. More than anything she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will truly be missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jay Day: sister Delores Hrinda: brother-in-law Edward Vavrek.

Survived by her children Deborah & Eric Weston; Pearl Gepfrey; Alan & Christine Day; Rebecca & Tim Wilson: grandchildren Matthew & Angie Weston; Nathan & Melissa Weston; AJ Weston; Crystal & Jonathan Rhodehamel; Andrea & Andy Steenrod; Kara Day; Troy Day; Preston Day; Megan Day: great-grandchildren Bennett, Camille, Alec, Gabrielle, Blake, Levi, Izaiah, Myles, plus 1 on the way: sister Marlene Vavrek: brother-in-law Richard Hrinda: special friends Melissa & Darrin Keagy.

Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenville with Fr. Matt Feist presiding. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenville.
